Community Contest recognition
What is Community Contest recognition?
It's our way of saying thank you. Community contests are created by members like you, and they're a big part of what makes Photocrowd tick — they give all of us new themes to shoot, fresh contests to enter, and in many cases thoughtful judging and feedback from the member who created them.
Members who have been creating community contests recently receive a recognition title, shown as a blue ring around their avatar across the site and a summary of their contribution on their profile.
What do the titles mean?
There are three titles:
Community Host — a member who has created a few community contests in the past 6 months.
Community Curator — a member who has regularly created community contests over the past 6 months, some of which may have been judged by them
Community Mentor — a member who has created a lot of community contests over the past 6 months, some or all of which have been judged by them
These are roles, not ranks. Each one recognises a member’s important contribution to the community.
Where will the title appear?
As a blue ring around your avatar wherever it appears on Photocrowd, and as a section on the ‘About’ and ‘Contests’ tabs of your profile, summarising your community contest contribution. Community Hosts will have one dash on their blue ring; Community Curators have two dashes, and Community Mentors three.
How is recognition earned?
By creating community contests. Recognition reflects the contests you've created whose results were announced over the past six months, with judged contests carrying more weight. Any member with a paid subscription can create a community contest — you'll find the option on the contest listings pages, and on the ‘Your contests’ page.
Why do judged contests count for more?
Judging a contest is a real commitment. A creator who judges their own contest reviews every entry, gives out awards, and often leaves feedback and encouragement along the way — on top of the time spent creating the contest itself. Recognition reflects that extra generosity.
What happens if a creator doesn't finish judging their contest?
If judging isn't completed by the time results are due, the contest is announced with its crowd ratings only, and it counts as a crowd-rated contest for recognition purposes.
Why has my title changed or disappeared?
Recognition reflects the past six months, on a rolling basis. As older contests pass out of that window, your title can change or lapse — and it will come back as soon as new contests of yours announce their results. A lapsed title doesn't take anything away from what you contributed; it just means the recognition always reflects recent activity.
Will I be notified when my title changes?
No. Titles appear and update quietly. This recognition is a thank-you, not a target to chase — so there are no notifications, progress bars or countdowns attached to it.
Can I see how close I am to the next title?
No — and that's deliberate. We don't publish the exact criteria, because we'd rather you created contests you're excited about than contests aimed at a number. Create for the community, and the recognition takes care of itself.
Does my recognition depend on my subscription?
Your title reflects the contests you've created, not your subscrition status or tier, so it stays with you even if your subscription lapses — although you'll need an active paid subscription to create new community contests.
